Hosted (cloud) VoIP

  • Low upfront cost; a monthly fee per user, every month, forever.
  • Good for very small or highly mobile teams.
  • Features and integrations are limited to what the provider offers.

On-premise phone system

  • A one-off investment plus a modest care plan; no per-user licence fees.
  • Full control: queues, IVR menus, recording, multi-site, and a direct connection to your CRM.
  • Calls are billed by your carrier at their rates.

Rule of thumb

From around 10 users, owning the system usually costs less within two to three years — and you get features you control. Under 5 users, hosted is often simpler.
